The Negative Edge v0.2.1-dev


Hi everyone! We're finally back with a new patch!

We disappeared for about a month to focus on some major changes that we decided to implement after three days of intense playtesting.

In this new version, you’ll be able to try out the direction we've chosen for how we present tutorials and mechanics (including future ones).

We’ve also implemented and improved two new mechanics:

  • Parry: You can now use the melee attack to deflect projectiles back at enemies (in this case, ranged enemies and their red orbs).

  • Finisher (Grab + Melee Combo): Grabbing an enemy now opens a very short time window in which, if you use the melee attack, the enemy will be instantly killed and will drop health and ammo.

Due to these new mechanics and the gameplay dynamics they introduce, we’ve also added a cooldown to the melee attack. It recharges over time but can be sped up by hitting enemies with ranged weapon projectiles.

We've also started designing and implementing the UI style we want to follow and, as you might notice… the compass is gone!

We decided to remove the compass and replace it with a 3D world scanner to make everything faster and more immersive, keeping the action fast-paced.

Besides that, and many other minor changes, we’ve added two new movement mechanics for exploration that will be used in future arenas:

  • Rail Grind

  • Wall-Run

These are the most important changes in this update. We invite you to try out the new version, in which we've also reworked AI behavior and balanced both character damage/health and the placement of crates in the maps.
